Abstract

STRADA (Swedish Traffic Accident Data Acquisition) is a client/server based data base system used for collecting, processing and storing information related to road traffic accidents and consequent hospital treatment. The main purpose of the system is to collect detailed information regarding all road traffic accidents resulting in casualties. The input to the system is PC (personal computer) generated reports from police and hospitals. These reports are compared and combined to improve quality and completeness of the accident data and then stored. The output of the system can either be an unprocessed dump of raw data or a processed answer to tailor-made questions regarding traffic accidents. The output can be in alphanumeric or graphical form (clickable map, pie chart etc.).
