A nation-wide road traffic census (RTC 2010) was carried out in 2005 as part of the usual five-yearly rota to monitor traffic development and determine traffic volumes on federal arterial roads - autobahns and national roads. The states had the option also to count the subordinate network (state and regional roads) and to have these data evaluated within the framework of the RTC 2010. As only a small number of these roads were counted, representative statements cannot be made. This report contains a detailed description of the recording and projection methodology used to determine the average annual daily traffic (AADT) and a description of how variables were calculated (design traffic volumes and values for "noise evaluations"), for which it is necessary to have previously determined AADT levels. The methodological explanations are supplemented by exemplary calculations. At the end of this report there is a comparison with the 2005 road traffic census in which the main changes and their effects are analysed. (Author/publisher)
