Abstract

Tens of thousands of lives lost and millions of injuries each year on America's highways; deteriorating bridges and pavements; hours of congestion and delay due to highway construction work zones, crashes, and other incidents; insufficient capacity to meet the needs of a growing population and expanding economy: these critical highway transportation problems demand solutions. In this report a Future Strategic Highway Research Program (F-SHRP) aimed at addressing these problems is outlined. (Author/publisher)
