Strategic planning of safety on Mexican federal roads.

Abstract

A steering committee, composed from various public and private organizations interested in reducing the number of road accidents on Mexican highways, was set up to co-ordinate their work. Recently this included a strategic plan of progressive phases to improve safety on the federal highways. Programs proposed include driver education, vehicle and road safety improvements, accident data collection automation, publicity and improved response time for emergency services attending accidents.
