Abstract

One of the most profound technological revolutions of the 20th century has taken place in the world of transportation. This has had a fundamental influence on national traffic policies. The automobile and motorisation have encouraged individual mobility to such an extent, that mass transport now stands for both social progress as well as one of the largest problems of the century. An important strategic aim must be the ensuring of free choice of transport means.
