Abstract

This paper describes a stratified multiple linear regression model for the prediction of home based trip productions. The model attempts to overcome the limitations of category analysis by removing the need to cross- classify households across attributes such as the number of persons, cars, dependants and workers per household. The model relies on empirical relationships rather than the mathematical probability density functions commonly used for category models. It is calibrated using census and home interview survey data.
