Abstract

In Greater London each year, over 1.000 under fives are killed or injured in road accidents. The cost of these accidents to the community is nearly 10 million pound per year, and the costs in terms of grief and suffering are limitless. Much work had been done in terms of publicity and training to overcome this major problem. In March 1985, "Streetwise kids", a developmental pre- school road safety club for London was launched. The club is aimed at children who are three or nearly three and provides them with road safety education until they are five.
