Abstract
Methods for reducing energy demand per vehicle-mile are discussed in terms of engine improvements and alternatives, weight, size. safety factors, and other design features. It is concluded that changes and improvements must be made in these areas to meet the growing demand for transportation services and at the same time achieve efficiency in the use of energy.
