Abstract

The roughness of porous asphalt-concrete (ZOAB) exercised the minds in the Netherlands for some time. A pilot study was conducted to investigate also the roughness of other Dutch road surfaces in relationship to braking with locked wheels. The study shows great differences at the measurements on different road surfaces, and that the roughness of road surfaces is incalculable, in view of the variables used in the study.
