Abstract

The coupling of concept modelling, automated structural op- timization and the beam section analysis code secollapse for the automated structural optimization of thin walled beam sections for minimum weight design subject to con- straints on section inertial properties, crush strength, packaging and manufacturability are described. Methodology for determination of loads generated in a section by . simulated crush loading of its vehicular application is developed.
