Abstract

A number of new highway barriers have been developed or partially developed under portions of the Bureau of Public Roads "Structural Systems in Support of Safety" or "4S" program. This paper describes the progress made to date in the development of impact energy absorption barriers and new types of barriers which are primaliry redirectional in nature, under the 4S program.
