Abstract

Young pedestrians, under 15 years of age, have experienced problems which have resulted in accident involvement twice that for any other age group. This study has the object to develop guidelines for the protection of young pedestrians walking to and from school. These guidelines were based on field surveys of the young pedestrian and the driver regarding designated school zones and specific school crossing protective devices.
