Abstract

A scheme has been worked out for continuous traffic counting by intermitted use of automatic equipment under application of statistical sampling techniques, and automatic data processing, Statistical evaluation of results from two permanent counting posts shows that reliable results can be obtained from fortnightly counting periods in intervals of 9 weeks. One apparatus can thus serve 3 spots. An organization plan is presented for this revolving use of the counting equipment.
