Abstract

Driver response and performance in four typical driving tasks while driving each of four simulated vehicles with a range of dynamic characteristics were studied. The findings contribute toward better understanding of the driver control process, and in this fashion toward better knowledge of driver /vehicle systems, their performance, and their effect on highway safety.
