Abstract

A worker origin-destination by mode survey, conducted in 1954, and a home interview survey, conducted in 1956, were used to formulate the metropolitan toronto transportation plan for the year 1980. A second home interview survey was carried out in 1964 to verify the 1956 travel characteristic data. The results of these three surveys were compared and analyzed to determine to what extent the travel trends used for the traffic prediction model had changed. The socieconomical changes in the study area during this period were collectd and analyzed. Sufficient analysis was carried out to validate the travel characteristics incorporated into the traffic prediction model.
