Abstract

When tempered glass is used as windshield for an automobile, it sometimes shatters on the road while the automobile is in motion. The cause of this shattering was investigated and it was found that the shattering is caused by the impact of flying objects. The shattering conditions were reproduced in the laboratory. Both tempered and laminated windshield glasses were investigated under these conditions. The experiments showed the safety performance of laminated windshield glass.
