Abstract

Most information that is necessary for car driving is achieved by means of vision, and such concentrated use of a specific sense organ causes delay of perception-reaction and recognition omission, and increases frequency of judgement error as well as fatigue of the organ. It may lead to unstable driving behavior reducing safety level in traffic flow. This paper, considering that such factors may be decreased by using several sense organs together for acquiring necessary information, examines the characteristics of visual and auditory sense in terms of collecting such information, and studies recognition features of multi senses attention for the common use of visual and auditory sense. It, also, acknowledges increase of drivers' fatigue and danger owing to lowering of operational efficiency by complexity of recognition factors. And the paper further proposes the concept of additional indicating device in which the auditory sense transmits information concerning intersection signals that is driving information closely related to time limit condition and safety.
