Abstract

The objective of this study, carried out on sections of four highways in the Nashville-Davidson Country, was to determine the effectiveness of highway lighting in reducing automobile accidents. Figures are given for accidents, injuries, fatalities, and property damage before and after lighting was installed. The annual cost of lighting is quoted for the four sections together with the saving in injuries and property damage.
