Abstract

Driver speed behaviour on approaching and traversing a curve was studied by continuously measuring the vehicle speed using video recording equipment. The data were analysed at close intervals of 10 m to reveal the driver- speed characteristics. Vehicle speed profiles were plotted from the results obtained. Very different speed change patterns were observed for the 99th percentile, 85th percentile and the mean speeds.
