Abstract

This report is presented in three parts' /1/ a general theory and design procedure for longitudinal control systems for automobiles has been formulated, /2/ experimental studies in mathematical analysis of studies of the driving task are reported, and /3/ measurements of traffic dynamics constitute a third area of measurement and investigation. Nine appendices supplement this report and give detailed presentations of the more important aspects of this project.
