Abstract

Display requirements of various information are very important for the ETC system user to safely receive the benefits of its effects. The degree of skill relative to the user system is also low especially during the popularization stage of ETC, and there is need to provide the necessary information with appropriate timing to the drivers so vehicles approaching the tollbooth enable safe driving without interfering with other vehicles. In this thesis, vehicle travelling tests were conducted under various conditions assumed in actual travel by using 4 types of vehicle-mounted means of providing information consisting of LED, sound, LCD display and voice. Optimum conditions for providing information with vehicle-mounted devices and characteristics of means of providing various information were obtained in addition to their order of superiority.
