Abstract

A before-after experimental design was used to carry out an exploratory study on the effectiveness of an increased level of traffic law enforcement as a means of reducing traffic accidents. The results of the study do not show any statistically significant reduction in accidents associated with the increased level of enforcement. Research must be undertaken to determine whether greater accident reductions are achieved when the enforcement level is kept constant or when the enforcement level pulsates.
