Abstract

This paper reports the results and findings of the study on inter-vehiclecommunication (IVC) in truck platooning. This study is a part of Energy ITS Project: Autonomous Driving, Platooning, which was commissioned to JARI (Japan Automobile Research Institute) by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization). In 2008 fiscal year, regarding 5.8GHz radio wave band, the authors conducted communication experiments within a large truck platoon, radio wave propagation simulation, communication experiments in a tunnel, and so on. As a result, the feasibility of 5.8GHzradio band for communication in a truck platoon was prospected.
