Abstract

The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) comprises an advanced information communication network, roads and vehicles. It will be a great help in solving problems such as traffic accidents and congestion. The authors developed the bus information system (BIS) with ITS technology. It is designed as a test platform that covers all types of bus services in accordance with the DaeJeon city ITS on-based system architecture. Key factors of this system are easiness for travelers to use, low cost in both implementation and operation on operational sides. The authors present some possibility of dedicated short range communications (DSRC) system in BIS. This system is constructed by RSE (Road Side Equipment) at bus stops, OBE (On-Board Equipment) with liquid crystal displays (LCD) in the bus and the communication networks.
