Abstract

The Projectbureau IVVS commissioned the long distance travel study in 1980. The first phase of the project, an investigation of long distance travel behaviour, is now complete. The first sections of this paper briefly review the purpose of the study and the basic structure of the proposed model. The later sections describe the activities undertaken in phase I, particularly the survey programme, and give a summary of our findings on long distance travel behaviour in the Netherlands.
