Abstract

The fatigue and fracture mechanisms of cracking of concrete in highways, bridge decks, and other structures subjected to repeated loadings are studied. The studies have indicated the applicability of the griffith theory of failure to the case of concrete fatigue. A brief discussion of the griffith theory and its application to concrete fracture is made following a background discussion.
