Abstract

A review of current knowledge on the textural changes experienced by road surfacing aggregates as a result of abrasion, polishing, differential wear and weathering. Changes in microtexture have been found to accord with skid-resistance values, traffic density, category of site and mineralogical composition of individual aggregates.
