Abstract

In the future, many info-communication services in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) will be provided via several communication mediums. Each info-communication service will be provided on suitable communication medium, and these communication mediums will be different among these info-communication services. However, on-board equipment will be increased and operation of the equipment will be more complicated because each communication medium will need different hardware. In this paper, the authors propose a method by which on board equipment could receive info-communication services using several different communication mediums. First, a system model of on-board equipment using software definable MODEM systems and a GIS communication environment information is shown. Next, the attribute information that is used to control reception of data from the info-communication services included on the on-board equipment is shown and the way to describe the attribute information for the data of info-communication service is explained. Finally, service images of the proposed method are shown and the authors describe the effects of proposed method.
