Abstract

For upper interior trim in a vehicle, the structures to minimize head injury which occurred by the first or second impact in a crash or roll-over of the vehicle are required. In order to meet the requirements of the customer and various vehicle safety regulations, computer simulation and experimental tests have been made concerning the roof side rail of upper interior component. This paper is mainly concerned with the technical characteristics of the geometrical structures of sheet panels that are currently used to protect head injury. (A)
