Abstract

Various papers concerning the relation between the field-dependence-independance level and some automobile driving variables are reviseted. There is some evidence that field dependent subjects are more frequently implicated in traffic accidents. Some aspects that may offer a plausible explication are presented: the sign perception in the dependent subjects is slower, their perceptual exploration strategy is less adequate and they have more difficulty that independent subjects in learning to guide a car in a skidding situation.
