Abstract

Research that examined whether the positive relationship between subjective expected utility (SEU) and behaviour is stronger for individuals with internal locus of control than for those with external locus of control is reported. Two separate longitudinal studies of adolescents were done. The behaviour studied in one sample was the initiation of cigarette smoking, and in the other it was the onset of drinking alcohol.
