The workshop on "Accident data collecting systems" was held in Jurmala, Latvia on 16th - 20th May 1994. The workshop was designed for the Central and Eastern European Countries' (CEEC) and Newly Independent States' (NIS) road traffic, transport and accident prevention experts and administrators from the various Ministries involved in this work at a national or regional level. The objective of this workshop was to provide state-of-the-art knowledge and practice applicable to prevailing national contexts and conditions; to identify tools, means and strategies for improvements; recommended plans, organisational frameworks and implementation procedures, and promote feedback and evaluation of actions taken.
