Abstract

Efforts of the NHTSA in the area of traffic court probation and, more specifically, its use as a driving under influence (DUI) countermeasure, are summarised. Probation, as used in the context of this report, refers to a correction process involving the courts, the offender, rehabilitation programs and the community. Reports are prepared for the courts, probationers are supervised, and rehabilitation is provided.
