Abstract

This document describes how a service concept for applications required to provide a proving ground management, can be implemented on an open platform, in the given case the Advanced Telematics Platform of mm-lab. The automotive proving ground facilities can basically be divided into 3 different groups of test tracks as there are: test tracks with a paved surface like high speed circuit and steering pad; test tracks with a technical surface like troughs, ABS and traction control, twist humps and gravel roads; and off road test tracks. The main proving ground management functions that the automotive proving ground operator needs to manage the test facilitiesare: planning of the proving ground operation and usage; monitoring the operation of the proving ground; access control of the vehicles and driversthat intend to use the proving ground; and generation of test procedures. The test procedures are in fact sequences of test steps which are adjusted to the type of vehicle and driver and which are executed by a driver using a driver guidance system. Billing is required as soon different customers use a proving ground and at least a charging function is required to charge the correct cost center in case only the owner of the proving ground uses the test facilities.
