Abstract

The capabilities of the combined. Urban Traffic Control System (UTCS) and Traffic Adaptive Network Signal Timing Program (TANSTP) system is described. In addition, the capabilities of the first and second generation control strategies developed under the UTCS program are compared. The impact of this research on surface street traffic control systems of the next decade is predicted.
