Abstract

In Singapore an overall transportation strategy, whose objective is the efficient and safe movement of people and goods was developed in the mid 1970's. It included engineering, administrative, fiscal and educational measures. This strategy has guided to the present and helped to keep transportation problems within manageable levels. The emphasis for the future is to improve on quality. Substandard transportation infrastructure will be upgraded.
