A survey of headlight aiming devices.

Abstract

Thirty two headlight aiming devices of different makes have been inspected. In order to control their calibration state, a special measuring apparatus has been developed. Test method and obtained results are given. Some possible actions for improving the present situation are proposed in the conclusions. Among other items, it no necessary to spread objective information on headlight aiming and introduce mandatory inspections of the workshops in order to ascertain whether they fulfil the basic conditions required to obtain acceptable aiming accuracy.
