Home and street surveys were conducted to provide information to Dorset County Council on the problems experienced by older and/or disabled residents of Wareham. This information was intended to aid the design of a traffic calming scheme and, together with information from surveys after the implementation of the scheme, to assess the benefits of traffic calming to older and disabled people. The results of the "before" home survey are presented, highlighting current difficulties experienced by the respondents. Recommendations for improving the town centre are provided. (A)
