Abstract

In order to provide basic information on the dimensions of people in their wheelchairs, photographs were taken of 382 visitors at the 1995 Mobility Roadshow. From these, the height, width and length of people in their wheelchairs were computed. The wheelchairs were classified into one of eight groups and features such as whether the chair could be folded were also noted. It was found that a wide variety of wheelchairs were in use, and it is hoped that the information will aid designers of wheelchair accessible transport systems. (A)
