Abstract

There are numerous applications of flashing lights in road use. Those most frequently encountered are vehicle direction indicators. Beacon flashes, amber of blue, are used to indicate service and emergency vehicles. Stationary flashing signals are on zebra-crossings. This paper deals mainly with flashing lights on vehicles themselves but many of the principles are applicable to stationary flashing road signals.
