Abstract

In this paper, the different weakness strengths of the different traction systems such as diesel, CNG (compressed natural gas), diesel electric, trolley bus, electric and hybrid are shown. The different possibilities are taken into consideration for total cost, availability, flexibility and energy consumption. The planner and the fleet manager may take into account that information as guidelines for preliminary choice about the different systems. In particular the paper takes into account the transport operator company point of view in respect of the stakeholder and customer suggestions. One of the results of the paper is to show clear methodology within the quality system to allow a robust feed back on the procedure. Furthermore a definition and application of a real sustainable strategy of fleet development with real output of management process is given. For the covering abstract see ITRD E120462.
