Abstract

The use of a system of testing for the presence of illegal drugs using sweat is described. Six subjects were given 60 mg of codeine and tested at intervals by means of Drugwipes applied to the forehead for 10 seconds. The mechanism of the reaction is described and the results presented. The codeine was easily detected by the Drugwipe. When compared with results from a sweat patch it appeared that the positive cut-off point for the Drugwipe was close to 10-12 ug/patch of codeine.
