Abstract

During the years 2006-2007 a new traffic safety camera system was developed and implemented in Sweden. The overall purpose of the system is to reduce the number the fatalities and serious injuries. Developing and implementing the system was done in a project with mutual responsibility from the involved authorities - the Swedish Road Administration and the Swedish National Police Board. The challenge, for the project and for the daily use and maintenance, is the cooperation between the two authorities. With mutual agreements, a special organization and common goals we have made the cooperation possible, the system fulfills all the requirements for the systemand the cooperation is a model for other common projects
