Abstract
The World Health Organization has as part of its Global Injury Prevention Programme and in conjunction with the Collaborating Centres taken an initiative to launch a worldwide helmet programme, to increase the use of helmets in prevention of head injuries. The work will actively involve the Collaborating Centres. The intention is to engage the public worldwide via this network and to disseminate experience of succesful programmes, research and development of methods for intervention as well as evaluation.
