Abstract

The penai law in Saveden with unconditional imprisonment,bas been the most important mean to achieve deterrence. Inthe 20's the disqualification of the driving licence andthe fines, later dayfines, veere the main legai factors. Inthe middle of the 30's the unconditional imprisonment suc-ceeded fines as the main sanction and the blond test wasintroduced. The present sanctions are in general one moZthunconditional imprisonment for dronken driving first da-gree. Confiscation of the licence is also used.
