Abstract

The National Road Database (the project and database is known by its Swedish abbreviation NVDB) is a project in Sweden where the Swedish National Road Administration (SNRA) has been assigned to establish a national road database. The aim with the NVDB is that it should contain basic information of all roads in Sweden, but the NVDB is not only a database. The NVDB is furthermore a concept for establishing an important part of the information systems architecture in the ITS-domain in Sweden. The aim of the paper is to analyse and evaluate the governing principles behind this architecture and how these principles have been implemented. For the covering abstract see ITRD E209471.
