Abstract

Sydney, a global city, faces new and continuing challenges in providing efficient road-based transport infrastructure to serve its growth and sustain its economy. As the population, port and airport continue to grow, there is a need to prioritise upgrades to the more congested parts of SydneyÆs strategic road network. This paper looks at SydneyÆs growth engines, and how they are anticipated to expand. It considers the transport system performance to support SydneyÆs economy, and considers priorities for enhancing the motorway network and strategic road system over the next decade.
