This chapter summarises the various aspects of user affinity. It is not intended to provide a theoretical framework, for the simple reason that our theoretical understanding of the problems encountered is still inadequate. Instead we will deal in turn with those aspects of user affinity which have proved to be important in practical applications. This appraisal is based on the case histories contained in Chapter II. Since this study focuses on man as the user of the information system the user affinity aspects are discussed from the viewpoint of human factors.
