Abstract

The most imperative requirement for an efficient and integrated ITS is the development of System Architecture. In Japan, the activities to develop the system architecture commenced in 1998 and were completed in 1999 collaboratively by the five ministerial bodies, that is, National Police Agency, Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Ministry of Transport, and Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Ministry of Construction, and the outcome has been put out to the public. This paper describes the system architecture development effort of Japan focusing on its method, procedure, and approach at each stage development and finally, summarizes the outcome. (A*)
