Abstract

This paper describes an integrated systems approach and its implications for the design of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), based upon work under contract to the FHWA. Two concepts are presented: regional urban ATMS architecture and regional integrated traffic management. ATMS control architecture is supported by data architecture that combines and integrates traffic management centers and traveler information facilities in the region. (A)
